The book also features examples drawn from government data, scholarly literature, practitioner anecdotes and the author's personal experience.



Joseph P. Lane (Amherst, NY, USA) led a Federally-funded team which for twenty-five years provided technical support to inventors, entrepreneurs, universities and government laboratories working to generate new technology-based products for both mainstream and niche markets. He also applied that practical experience to inform domestic and international STI theory, practice and policy. Mr. Lane has co-authored several books, established one journal, and has authored fifty articles in peer-reviewed journals.
