Fluorescein angiography is an indispensable tool in ophthalmology. It is founded on the evaluation of phenomena related to the behavior intravenously administered sodium fluorescein in the tissues of the ocular fundus. Manfred Spitznas M.D. is Emeritus Professor of Ophthalmology. From 1979 to 1981 he served as Wasserman Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Retina Service at UCLA, USA. From 1981 to 2002 he was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Bonn, Germany.
